Generating ideas, what will be our tools, Part II

In part one we talked about lateral thinking and its tools, now we link lateral thinking with our app development plan

First, i want to introduce two main components of any lateral thinking session, and they are:

  • Focus hit-list:
  • Formal session output

Focus hit-list

are the session main goals, like "we want to get ideas for selling pizza in a new way", so the main objective of the session is generating new ideas and concepts for selling pizzas, the session could have any number of goals.

Formal session output

is like a small report of the session results, and it has four elements to report for

  • Concepts: we defined new concepts which may be used as focus hit-list item for future sessions
  • Ideas: the new ideas for our session goals
  • Techniques: which techniques from the lateral thinking tools we used during the session
  • Values: what are the benefits we got from the new ideas, and how it directly serve our goals

How we would use the lateral thinking session

Before starting any creativity sessions i will publish focus hit-list (it could be features, methods, user experience), and beside this list i will outline the set of techniques that will be used in the session

After the session end i will follow up with a post contain the formal output from the session and as stated before it will contain concepts, ideas, techniques (may be change the techniques during the session) and values

So that's it for the lateral thinking method, i will explain more on this subject and its techniques during the progress of the app making from time to time so be prepared.

salam,
M.Aleem
